My name is Gene Davis. I’m a New Jersey native currently residing in Jackson Township, and I am running for Ocean County Sheriff. My passion is to ensure communities prosper from all angles in Ocean County, NJ. I have a diverse personal and professional background, from serving in the military to holding various positions in public service.
I have a B.S. in Public Administration from Kean University and I was previously elected to the Linden City Council. In 2008 I became Chairman of all city personnel and the City Budget. I have worked closely with the Police Department personnel and negotiated their union contracts. I am also a military veteran and have been involved with drug prevention programs. I think I can bring unique insight to the current problems we face and how to fix the problems of the future.
Having been the Chairman for the State of New Jersey for Veterans Against Drugs and Alcohol, I would like to start a program in middle and high schools working with the school superintendents, local police departments and state police talking to students and explain the real consequence of opioids and drugs. The younger we teach our children, the better chance we have of protecting the next generation. I am a young 68 years old, married to my wife of 47 years. Together we have one daughter and three grandchildren.
